Sungate Design is a North Carolina-based firm located in Raleigh. The Corporation is registered with the Office of the Secretary of State, the North Carolina Board of Examiners for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors, and the North Carolina Board of Landscape Architects. All of our professional staff are currently registered with their appropriate NC professional licensing boards.
Sungate Design Group is certified through North Carolina’s Unified Certification Program as a Small Professional Services Firm (SPSF) effective April 25, 2008.
Our staff has extensive experience in FEMA regulations, NCDOT procedures and policies for highway drainage design and bridge and culvert analysis, federal and state regulations, environmental compliance, storm water quality, sustainable site design, landscape design, stream and wetland determinations and delineations, and erosion control design. We are continually investigating new approaches, procedures, and products in order to stay ahead of our competition.
Sungate offers the professional expertise to provide services in all phases of drainage basin studies and flood studies from data collection, evaluation and analysis, public participatory process, conceptual design, environmental permitting, hydraulic studies, site design and engineering, permitting and approval, construction documentation and project administration. All of our engineers have extensive experience with FEMA floodway modifications, HEC-2, and HEC-RAS.
Sungate serves as the Town Engineer for the Town of Carrboro and authored the Stormwater Section of the Town of Carrboro, NC Land Use Ordinance. The firm also administers the Stormwater Program and provides technical assistance to the Floodplain Administrator for the Town. Sungate completed a stormwater inventory of the entire Town of Carrboro to meet NPDES Phase II regulations. The inventory was used to create a GIS online web database to facilitate future basin studies.
Sungate also provides the Town of Holly Springs with assistance in reviewing flood studies and drainage plans. We have completed basin and flood studies for the Town providing technical assistance, facilitation of public meetings, and construction plans and administration.
Sungate was the Landscape Architectural and Site Engineering Subconsultant on project teams awarded the 2006 and 2007 Sir Walter Raleigh Community Appearance Award for the Institutional Category. Sungate provided site design, permitting, and construction oversight for both award winning projects.
The firm has been on the North Carolina DOT's Register of Qualified Firms for Hydraulic Design since 1992. In addition, we are pre-qualified with the Project Development and Environmental Analysis Branch (PDEA) to provide stream and wetland delineation, environmental permitting, as well as stream and wetland mitigation site planning and design. |
